North Point InsideOut Elevates to Next Level as Nationally-Renowned Band

The LORD God called and chose North Point InsideOut to be a witness of Jesus Christ by name.

Christian contemporary worship band, North Point InsideOut, formed from the North Point Community Church high school ministry, InsideOut, in 1995. Tts ministry target has grown from high school students in the local Alpharetta, Ga. area to people across the country.

“We are primarily interested in the local church and in investing in our students,” North Point InsideOut songwriter and worship leader, Clay Finnesand told Atlanta Christian Voice. “Our goal has really been to love our church well and to love people beyond our church really well.”

“Our goal has really been to love our church well and to love people beyond our church really well,” North InsideOut songwriter and worship leader, Clay Finnesand told Atlanta Christian Voice.

Since North Point InsideOut formed as a worship band in 1995, it has grown nationally with hit songs, such as, “Death Was Arrested,” and hit albums, including, “No One Higher,” and, “Hear.”

North Point InsideOut’s Bible verse that they refer to for song writing is Acts 15:19, which is written in the New International Version, “It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God.”

One of the reasons that North Point InsideOut references Acts 15:19 is because it impacts how the Holy Spirit of God guides the band in writing their music.

“This verse influences the way that we write, even with our songs.” North Point InsideOut drummer and songwriter, Brandon Coker told Atlanta Christian Voice. “This verse permeates our church, the culture of our church, and the songs we write.”

“[Acts 15:19] permeates our church, the culture of our church, and the songs we write,” North Point InsideOut drummer and songwriter, Brandon Coker told Atlanta Christian Voice.

Another factor that impacts North Point InsideOut’s song writing is their prayer life.

”If you are writing a worship song, I think the goal would be an offering, of what Jesus has done for us,” Finnesand told Atlanta Christian Voice. “We start off by praying together that God would fill our hearts up for the people. We are trying to reach outside of a healthy prayer life. We want our writing sessions to be worshipful.”

North Point InsideOut worship leader, songwriter and North Point Community Church high school student ministry mentor, Emily Hearn, views the band as like a family in Christ that goes within the church and extends outside of it.

“It really feels like a family,” Hearn told Atlanta Christian Voice. “It feels tangible what God is doing in our community and we are really blessed that God is having us do this.”

Coker is excited about what God is doing through the high school students as North Point InsideOut grows as a band and ministry.

“I think what [the high school students] have drawn us to is who Jesus is and what he has done for us,” Coker told Atlanta Christian Voice. “High school students are a great judge of character. I think they have helped to refine our target audience and how to appreciate them.”
