Francis Chan encouraged Christians to look at the COVID-19 pandemic in a different light. He urged believers to use this time to spread the love of Christ, reports Canadian Christian radio station, CHVN Radio.
In a video posted on his YouTube Channel, CrazyLove, Chan reminded Christians all over the world that in a time of fear, panic, and uncertainty, believers must remain strong in their faith. “We can do all things through Christ and that means even during this time.”
This is one of our greatest opportunities for reaching out to a lost world and showing them that we haven’t lost our love, joy, and peace. —Francis Chan
Chan and his family moved to Hong Kong in February to serve as missionaries. Two weeks in Hong Kong and the Coronavirus crisis erupted in the Asian country.
Instead of equating the pandemic with fear, the Christian author sees the crisis as “one of our greatest opportunities to reach a lost world and show them we haven’t lost our love, joy, and peace.”
Chan gave three reminders in his video entitled “Encouragement to the Church During Hardships.”
First, “Don’t lose your love.” As countries implement community quarantines, it is the perfect time for the church to talk about serious things such as life and death. Christians should proclaim their love for God and ask Him about His purpose.
Second, “Don’t lose your joy.” Chan asked believers to change their perspective on what’s happening in the world. Instead of being sad because of being isolated at home, Christians should be joyful with the fact that they can be isolated with God.
The evangelical pastor’s last lesson in his video, “Don’t lose your peace.” Christians should be fearless. When things seem out of man’s control, remember that God is.
Chang advised Christians to be resilient in these trying times. “This is the fruit of the Spirit, guys, take advantage of this time. Don’t miss this opportunity. This is one of our greatest opportunities for reaching out to a lost world and showing them that we haven’t lost our love, joy, and peace.”
