How to Control Cellulite: A New Twist

Do you ever experience a warm feeling dressing in front of a mirror, only to be reminded of the orange peel look on the thighs, stomach, arms, or buttocks? Does yuck or maybe eel sound familiar? Followed by the common question, how do I get rid of this cellulite?

Ordinarily, we research the internet for an answer to quickly and effectively clear away this unsightly thing. After reading countless bits of information our patience grows thin and frustration magnifies the bitterness. So what do we do? We desperately try a quick fix treatment to remove cellulite, but instead it leads to stress and eventually affects our health.

Whoa…wait a minute and let’s back this up a moment. Prior to beginning any method of health resolution we need to first prepare our minds to be positive and open our hearts to receive the blessings of our request. Here are some questions to get you going:

a) Where is your faith?

b) What happened to gratitude?

c) Is patience still a virtue?

d) Why isn’t prayer first on this list? After all, it is the most powerful form of communication to God when we are heavily laden.

God said if we have faith the size of a mustard seed we can move mountains. Believe that you can and you will. It also helps when we can create an initial mental visual of the end results.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”                                                                                                      Hebrews 11:1

When our, thighs, stomach, arms, and buttocks, are functioning properly, then perhaps, we can show a little gratitude and be thankful we’re capable of doing any exercise. For that reason alone, we give praises to our deserving God. When praises go up blessings come down. You’ll be surprised how fast God responds to praise.

“Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 5:20

Yes, we’ve all heard the cliché, patience is a virtue many times over, and it justifies the condition. Perseverance will render some amazing results. Patience is endurance and much required when working on body toning exercises.

“A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.”                                                                                                   Proverbs 19:11

Consciously, once we’ve embraced faith, gratitude, and patience and then placed it in the vessel called prayer we can expect the manifestation from God. Are we truly a steadfast and unmovable witness for Jesus Christ? Then we also know beyond a shadow of doubt the absolute power of prayer.

“…The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” James 5:16

What is Cellulite

The war on cellulite is a bit challenging nevertheless victory shall prosper. As with any conflict, we first need knowledge of it before we can defeat it.

Cellulite happens when a partition of fatty deposits is formed against the connective tissue beneath the skin causing the skin to pucker. Connective tissues are tissues that connect the structures of the body together. They are made up of two proteins: collagen and elastin. The collagen protein helps to form the connective tissue in the tendons, cornea, cartilage, bone, blood vessels, and skin. In other words, when the body is deficient in the two proteins the lumpy dimples appear and ripples like a river throughout the skin of the thighs, stomach, arms, and buttocks.

Cellulite is more prevalent in women than men because women skin tissue is thinner and less porous, not to mention that it affects slender women as well as women overweight. Statistics show between eighty and ninety women will experience some level of cellulite while only ten percent of men will have it.

What Causes Cellulite

Cellulite occurs when connective tissues beneath the skin weakens and loses elasticity. Although the one exact cause of cellulite is unknown, there are quite a few contributing factors to cellulite:

The formation of cellulite
  • Aging
  • Hormonal changes
  • Unhealthy diets
  • Slow metabolism
  • Not enough exercise
  • Dehydration
  • Total body fat
  • Thin skin
  • Poor circulation
  • Genetics
  • Excessive salt
  • Excessive sugar
  • Stress

Did you know that wearing tight underwear, tight pantyhose, and tight fitted clothing can cut off blood circulation to collagen and increase the risk for cellulite?

How to Combat Cellulite

While there is no cure to permanently eliminate cellulite yet, there are a number of natural treatments to help minimize its appearance.

  • Compression garments
  • Creams, lotions, oils
  • Exercise
  • Healthy Diet
  • Medications
  • Supplements

Exercise – A Natural Routine

Choosing a safe and natural method to strengthen the connective tissues and decrease the fatty deposits requires consistency, exercise, and eating healthy foods. Ordinarily, exercise is the key to a smoother body. Some creams are preferable to hydrate the skin, increase collagen and elastin, but should contain a few primary ingredients as avocado, green tea, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, retinol, caffeine, and coconut oil.

Physical Activities

Here are some suggested exercises that will jump start your training:

Climbing stairs is a great way to reduce cellulite

Leg lifts

Leg extension

Bicycle riding

Climbing stairs

You are in control of the number of sets, repetitions, and days of the week for your routine workout. For your initial workout do as much as your body will allow then gradually increase the amount. For example, beginners may start with lunges, squats, and leg lifts. Start with two sets of ten repetitions each for three-four days out of the week.

Always consult your physician assistant or primary care physician prior to any new exercise training.

A Healthy Diet

Easing off your salt and sugar intake will help to reduce cellulite. Salt causes water retention that could worsen the cellulite whereas sugar stores fatty tissues making it more expandable. Eating high fiber and protein-rich foods such as salmon, chicken breast, lemons, oranges, cherries, berries, papaya, garlic, avocado, asparagus, cucumber, chamomile tea, green tea, raw nuts, and whole grain will increase your supply of collagen and elastin forming components, consequently strengthening connective tissues.

Berries are great antioxidants and strengthens connective tissues

Drinking plenty of water (eight to ten glasses) daily helps flush out toxins that hide in the fat layers beneath the skin.

TIP: Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of flaxseed on your breakfast each day. Flaxseed supports estrogen levels and boosts collagen growth to prevent the formation of cellulite.  Also, about 75 mg Vitamin C daily helps to build collagen found in a cup of strawberries, ½ cup of blueberries, one kiwi, two oranges and more.
