Christian Association of Nigeria Raises Alarm

The South West President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Archbishop Magnus Atilade, called for Christians to unite against plans to eradicate Christianity in Nigeria by making Islam as the country’s official religion.

Speaking at the Work F.O.R.C.E. Africa 2016 conference in Lagos, Archbishop Atilade urged Christian organizations to form a synergy and map out strategies on how they could overcome the threat on Christianity.

He said, “As we are seeing in the whole world now, no single church, denomination or organization, can save the world. We have work to do and we need to be united to achieve a common goal. Individual organizations working alone have not been able to make an impact.”

Sultan of Sokoto, Abubakar Sa’ad denied that there is a plan to Islamize Nigeria, saying, “It is not possible to Islamize Nigeria. We must respect one another and understand the tenets of the two religions.”

However, Archbishop Atilade insisted that the Sultan lied. He explained that there are people who are busy trying to destroy Christianity, following the increase in the number of Christians being killed and churches being destroyed. He urges unity among Christian leaders to prevent this sinister aim against Christianity.
